Colchester Zoo is home to over 260 species set in 60 acres of parkland and lakes!
During your visit you will see species from around the world and learn more about them at daily encounters, giving you the chance to see the animals being fed or watch a training session!
As you navigate your way around Colchester Zoo you’ll visit many different habitats; from the humid home of our Komodo Dragons to the zoo’s very own Africa plain, Kingdom of the Wild, home to white rhino, giraffes and zebras
You can also take part in some fantastic activities with the opportunity to hand feed the elephants and giraffe at daily public feeding sessions! Colchester Zoo also has many undercover areas so you can stay warm and dry on even the wettest of days!
With so much to see and do including a full calendar of events you may find you want to return throughout the year, Colchester Zoo’s Pass which allows you to do just that with unlimited visits for 12 months plus many more amazing benefits!

Immerse yourself in the wonderful Christmas atmosphere on the 8th & 9th, 15th – 24th December.
Meet Santa’s beautiful reindeers, get crafty at the Elves’ workshop, enjoy the staff panto and a Christmas tale!
PLUS don’t miss out on the magical Santa Experience*, all children taking part in the Santa Experience will be able to go home with their very own ‘Papa Penguin & Baby Bleu’ penguin soft toy!
You can also enjoy food from the zoo’s many food outlets, from breakfast, lunch and dinner to Christmassy snacks and delicious treats!
On the 8th, 15th, 22nd & 23rd December you can also stay after dark as we remain open until 7.30pm for you to enjoy our magical Christmas illuminations!
*Children under 3 may enter the Santa Experience however, if you would like them to meet Santa himself and receive a penguin soft toy, a Santa Experience Ticket must be purchased.
Child Zoo Passholders, child complimentary ticket holders including adopters, children attending birthday parties and animal experiences and those visiting with a Tesco Days out tokens must purchase a Santa Experience Ticket if they wish to participate in the Santa Experience and receive a penguin soft toy. A Santa Experience Ticket costs just £7.00 per child.

Nearest train station:
Colchester Main Train Station can be reached from Liverpool Street services from London within in an hour or is easily reached along the Lowestoft or Norwich networks to Ipswich and then on to Colchester. Colchester Zoo is just 10 minutes by taxi or can be reached by bus.
There is free car parking at the Zoo.
