Alternative Advent Calendar

Things To Do

posted November 29th 2018

Looking for an alternative to the traditional advent calendar, then why not try this from our friend Nanny Angela?

Each Christmas Angela wraps up 24 Christmas books and puts them under her tree. Each day when the grandchildren come round from the 1st December, they open up one of the presents and all sit together to read one of the books. Over the years Angela has built up quite a collection of Christmas books, some more traditional and others a bit newer but a great collection none the less. Some years, she adds in a few festive DVDs, usually for days when she knows she’ll have the grandchildren for a few hours. When the grandchildren were younger movies like Mickey’s Christmas Special were great, and then over time the DVDs have changed as the grandchildren have got older but Elf still remains a firm family favourite.

Have you tried anything like this? What Christmas traditions do you have?
