Salt Dough Christmas Decorations

Things To Do

posted December 2nd 2018

If you’re looking for a fun project to do with your grandchildren in preparation for Christmas, THIS IS IT, Salt Dough Christmas Decorations.

Ingredients/Equipment Needed

  • 120g flour (self-raising flour should not be used as it will cause the ornaments to bubble up while baking)
  • 60g salt
  • 125 cup water (or more as needed)
  • non-toxic acrylic varnish
  • Rolling pin
  • Drinking straw
  • Shaped cookie cutters
  • Acrylic paints
  • Paintbrush
  • Glitter
  • Ribbon

Mix the flour and salt and slowly add water to form a nice non -stick salt dough.

Knead it for 10 mins then roll and cut the shapes, with a straw cut a hole on top for the string .

Bake on 100 degrees for an 1 hour or until the shapes are all dry (this will depend on how thick your dough is).

Paint and decorate them and sprinkle on some glitter and leave them to dry. When dried decorate your Christmas tree and enjoy them for years to come.
